Supportive care research reports – Cancer stories project
The Cancer Society funds scientific and behavioural research. Scientific research helps us understand more about cancer and explore new treatments. Behavioural research helps us understand better how we can help people with cancer.
Aotearoa/ New Zealand Narrative of Encounters with Cancer
38 people affected by cancer were interviewed about the things that worked for them along their cancer journey – whether it was a situation with their employer, family/whānau, healthcare professional, or within themselves.
The project team included ten cancer survivors and family members of cancer survivors, a kaumātua/kuia advisory group and two academic/clinical advisors. The key question asked was, ‘what helped you get through your cancer experience?’
